Written by Enerkem | Nov 7, 2011

"Jim will oversee all our engineering, global supply chain, project management, as well as plant operations", said Vincent Chornet, President and CEO of Enerkem. "He will play an instrumental role as we move toward full-scale commercialization and build more biofuels and chemicals plants.  We are delighted to welcome such a well-rounded leader aboard."

Throughout his career, Jim Conner has overseen manufacturing operations in various parts of the world, including compact plants similar to Enerkem facilities.   He held the position of Vice President, Global Operations and Technology at Celanese.  He was also responsible for process engineering, process control, project engineering, R&D centers, as well as environmental, health and safety management.

"I am thrilled to join Enerkem, a company that has developed a breakthrough technology to address the challenges of oil dependence and waste disposal", declared Jim Conner.  "This is an exciting time in the life of Enerkem as it deploys its technology on a large commercial scale."

Jim Conner will be based in Montreal.  His appointment is effective today.

About Enerkem

Enerkem develops biofuels and chemicals from waste. With its proprietary thermochemical technology, Enerkem converts abundantly available municipal solid waste (mixed textiles, plastics, fibers, wood and other non-recyclable waste materials) into chemical-grade syngas, and then methanol, ethanol and other chemical intermediates that form everyday products. By using waste instead of fossil fuels, Enerkem addresses the growing demand for renewable energy sources and chemicals, while reducing landfill volumes and greenhouse gas emissions. Headquartered in Montreal, Canada, the company currently operates both a pilot and a commercial demonstration facility in Quebec, has its first waste-to-biofuels full-scale commercial plant under construction in Edmonton, Alberta, and is developing several similar facilities in the U.S. and Canada that will convert municipal solid waste into biofuels and chemicals. www.enerkemweb.wpengine.com
