From municipal waste, plastics, to even ocean waste, the Enerkem technology can accept various types of feedstock

Since 2000, Enerkem has tested and validated several different feedstocks – from solid waste coming from several municipalities to dozens of other types of residues. Its exclusive process is environmentally sound and requires relatively low temperatures and pressures, which reduces energy requirements and costs. The technology was rigorously scaled up from pilot to demonstration to commercial-stage during a period of 10 years of disciplined efforts.

The use of non-recyclable and non-compostable solid waste as feedstock for producing biofuels and green chemicals complements recycling and composting. It does not disrupt existing recycling and composting efforts and uses materials that would otherwise end up in landfills.
