Enerkem’s Co-Founder receives Green Fuels Award from the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association
Montréal, Canada – Esteban Chornet, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Enerkem, was recognized for his outstanding contribution to the advancement of renewable fuels in Canada at the Canadian Renewable Fuels Summit Green Fuel Award Gala held on December 2nd.
“The association recognizes Esteban Chornet’s vision and dedication to advanced research in the biomass, energy, and environmental sectors and to education in the field of chemical engineering”, said Gordon Quaiattini, President of the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association.
“I am very honoured to receive this award and to be recognized by the Canadian biofuels industry community”, said Esteban Chornet.
As Enerkem’s Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Esteban Chornet provides vision, direction, mentoring and expertise in catalytic reaction engineering and process integration. Over the years, Dr. Chornet has received other awards including the 1984 Steacie Fellowship Award from the Government of Canada and the 2004 Prix Lionel Boulet, which is the highest technology prize awarded yearly by the Government of Quebec. Dr. Chornet is a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Canada (Academy of Sciences).
Dr. Chornet holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from ETSIIB in Barcelona, Catalunya (Spain) and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania (USA). From 1970 to 2007, he was Professor of Chemical Engineering at Université de Sherbrooke in Québec where he taught the fundamentals of the discipline and was involved in graduate education and advanced research. From 1993 to 2003, Mr. Chornet was also a Principal Research Engineer with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, in Colorado (USA).
