Mark Townley
Corporate Director
Mark Townley joined the Enerkem Board of Directors in March 2023.
Mr. Townley has worked in the oil and gas industry for more than 30 years and currently holds the position of Senior Vice-president of Supply, Trading & Optimization at Suncor where he is responsible for overseeing a significant portion of the company’s commercial activities.
Townley’s early industry experience was in a variety of refining and marketing roles with BP, which took him to the U.K., U.S. and Europe. In 2004, he joined Suncor’s marketing group, assuming roles of increasing accountability — including leadership of Suncor’s pipeline business — before becoming Vice-president of Strategic Planning and Development in 2008. In the summer of 2011, he was promoted to Vice-president of Supply, Trading & Optimization and again in 2018 to his current role with a broader commercial remit.
Mark Townley studied geography at the University of Cambridge in England. He is also a graduate of the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in Fontainebleau, France.
